History

Jim and Barbara Cimino partnered with Ernst and Janet Hermann and built Once Upon a Horse in 1984. The goal was to develop a facility that would serve the budding equestrian community. Ernst Hermann had the background in Dressage and Eventing and the Treasure Valley had a need for a place where English riding enthusiasts could come together and learn. Once Upon a Horse quickly became a meeting place for The Boise Pony Club, local Dressage shows, local Three Day Events, and clinics hosting well known instructors in Dressage and Eventing. Since 1984, the facility has continued to evolve. New barns were built, and arenas added to meet the needs of the clients. Over the years the students have known success regionally, nationally, and internationally.

In 2020 the Once Upon a Horse sign was erected again and we are honored to carry on the legacy of Barbara Cimino and hope to continue adding to the Treasure Valley equestrian community for years to come.
